April 2nd, 2018 - The Intermediate Class
Dear TNY,
“The Intermediate Class” was a waste of my fucking time. It was a waste of your time. It was a waste of your readers' time. It will be a waste of time to write this review. So I’m going to keep it short.
Good: Mostly scene, so it moved along. The best part, which is not saying a lot, is the way the German language was handled. It was reminiscent of I shit in the milk of my father from For Whom the Bell Tolls. Then I was reminded of that book. And I remembered how much I enjoyed it. And I took a pull from my large cool beer at this airport I’m in and I fell back, briefly, into fonder times of reading, times free of this fucking drivel you insist on soiling your pages with.
Bad: As per usual, you don’t understand the difference between confusion and ambiguity for the reader. Not a goddamn thing happens in this story other than for the author who seems very smug about knowing more about what happens than we do. Why is that? Because this motherfucker pulled it all from his or her head. I did not. Your readers did not. So we are left holding a very large bag of human feces wondering why we fucking look to you for anything literary. Character development is off-page. Language is stale. 6900 fucking words. The list is nigh endless of why this should have never been published. Eat a dick, TNY.
Yours in maybe the only thing we have in common: we are human,
Nick
