Dear TNY,

I won’t labor long on “Call Me Ishmael”.

I just went to check, and yep, Shirley Jackson has been dead since 1965.  So why put this story out?  Do we know the author wanted that?  Do we think she thought the story was done?  Would she appreciate it?  We cannot know because of her life status.  What we can know is that, once again, and a fiction issue no less, like many of the times before, you are floating posthumous work without permission from the author, such that you can sell copy because of the author’s name alone.  Fuck your blownout-tubesock of an asshole, and also that of the leprotic, mangy horse you rode in on.
